Since its launch in 2005, the TIMF Academy began as a collaboration with Ensemble Modern, Germany’s esteemed contemporary classical music ensemble. The academy selects talented musicians from Korea and Asia, offering them a diverse range of curricula guided by renowned international instructors.

As of 2022, the TIMF Academy's primary focus revolves around a composition academy curated by Unsuk Chin, the distinguished composer, and artistic director of the Tongyeong International Music Festival. Additionally, it hosts educational programs that invite world-class performers, including the Leonidas Kavakos Violin Masterclass.
